Update 12/6/13
Tere wants to thank everybody who has helped her in any way since her accident. It has been a difficult year, but it has been made a lot easier with the love and generosity of so many people. She is working very hard every day to become more independent. She is still as vivacious and lively as ever.
While Tere was in the hospital, she had an overwhelming amount of support from friends, family and strangers. Everybody wanted to help her. This is a great blessing in her life. This is what she would like to say to all these people:
"I'm Thankful for the support that you have given me. It means a lot knowing that there are people with good hearts that help people like me. It's been hard, but the money that you donated has helped me in many ways to help make my life better. It has helped with my therapy and the supplements that i need during the day. I feel grateful every day for having the opportunity to keep living and having a good quality of life. My goal is to be independent. I'm doing my best to achieve independence. I will always be grateful to each of you for giving me that opportunity."
Tere has been working hard to be more mobile. She has been going to therapy sessions at Neuroworx, in South Jordan, Utah. In the picture to the left, she is shown standing for the first time in months. The trainer locked her knees in place and helped her balance herself. Although Tere can't stand on her own, this is one of the achievements she has had in her efforts. She never gives up hope and continues to have faith that she will have mobility in her legs.
Tere loves being with friends and family. They are a great support to her. They help her to continue to live a normal, happy life. Her sister has been by her side since day one helping her with everything. The rest of Tere's family lives in Mexico, but her parents and youngest sister will be coming to visit in December.
Tere is currently living with the family of her brother-in-law in Taylorsville, Utah. She will stay there until she is well enough to take the next step in her life.
